Our neighbor’s cactus toppled over and broke last year (see the horizontal parts), but it seems to be recovering nicely.

Maria got down from the dinner table at church tonight and went off by herself with her placemat and her father’s pencil.  It reminded me of this picture, which reminded me of how much I miss Chad.  *sob*

Here is Henry’s science project – he had to make a habitat, and he chose Desert.  See the (real, cut from the neighbor’s yard) cactus, the hand-drawn scorpion and snake, and the toy lizard?  Rocks and sand are from our front yard.
